Learning from journey towards goals

Reaching the destination marks the end of a journey. However, the journey and the path taken to reach the destination is way more significant than the destination itself. In a way the journey itself is the destination. To excel in today’s highly competitive corporate world, one has to identify and set goals for the growth which demand zeal and commitment. Once the goals are identified, you put in all your effort to achieve that goal.

You begin a journey towards your goals. On this journey you come across successes, failures, learning, setbacks before reaching your destination. Perseverance is the key and your commitment to yourself will ensure you acquire needed new skills to achieve your goal. You meet new people and learn to build better relationships thus growing your network.

However, the journey towards your goals is not always smooth. There is a certain level of risk involved on every important decision you make and there will definitely be failures and setbacks. A firm resolve and commitment help in overcoming the failures. The learning from the failures will help you in better risk management and planning for the future. Also, once you take a decision, you learn to defend it. You learn to prove your point and fight for what is right.

Lastly, you learn to explore the unknown. Sometimes the goals you set don’t have a clear path. That path needs to be carved out by venturing into the unknown. It is just like finding a path through a maze, you take different paths, hit roadblocks, take new paths till you come out of the maze. There are risks involved, however your perseverance will keep you going and you will come out enlightened.

By the time you reach your goal, you are already a different person from the time you started your journey towards the goal. The journey and the path you take towards your goals transforms you and brings the invaluable experience that inspires you to set new goals, raise your bar and start over again. In a sense journey becomes the destination and keeps you moving.
